The Patty Center saw two major victories for the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks last night.

The Men’s basketball team beat Western Washington, which ranked second nationally in NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball, with a score of 77-73.

The game which was described by women’s basketball center Taylor Altenburg as “very exciting,” started just moments after the women’s  team  beat Western Oregon with a score of 55-40. It was the second victory in a row for the women, and their first home win of the season. Their previous win against Central Washington was their first out-of-town conquest in six years.

“Our team works really hard and our record doesn’t show how hard we work,” said Kelly Logue, who plays guard on the women’s team, after enjoying some victory cake at Lola Tilly commons Friday afternoon. “So it is nice to final have something to reflect that.”

There will be another Nanook basketball double header Saturday afternoon. The women play at 1 p.m. and the men play at 3.
