Last weekend was the 4th annual White Mountains 100.  This “ultra endurance” race is a 100-mile loop through the White Mountains Recreation Area, North of Fairbanks.  The race allows 65 competitors to enter. Racers can use any human powered transportation, bikes, skis or their feet.  This year’s champion was Tim Berntson of Anchorage, who finished the 100-mile race in 10.8 hours.

For more information on the race visit the White Mountains 100 website.

Several of the photos in this soundslides were from Mark Conde.  More photos of the race are available at his website.
