Prettiest Girl In Town debuts at UAF

The annual UAF Film Festival is on Thursday April 25, 2013 at 8 p.m. in the Lee H. Salisbury Theatre.

UAF Film Club President Aaron Gordon is hosting the event which features sixteen original student entries, door prizes, balloons filled with money falling from the ceiling and five guest speakers. Films will be judged by audience voting.

First time filmmaker Benjamin Ruhollah-Iraj Ghalami said he spent more than 140 hours in a two week period working on his short film about a boy who rescues his kidnapped girlfriend. “It was probably the most stressful endeavors of my life.” He said the most rewarding part was “Watching the finished product with all the people who were in the movie and feeling like I accomplished something.”

UAF students Sam Mckeirnan, Shannon Monroe and Mike Sweets appear in Ben’s 26 minute long vendetta film titled, Prettiest Girl in Town.

The event is being put on my the UAF Film Club with support from the UAF Department of Theatre and Film. The film festival is open to the public and entry is five dollars per person.
